Kirks reply's pretty much spot on, $5000 a year is pretty reasonable given you're living costs are reduced a lot when you're off land. If you don't have a long time to spare I'm sure there are plenty people going on this who wouldn't mind changing c…

Alright, well, I have 2 years to prepare for this- what would you recommend I do to be totally ready for this trip? I would probably want to be on one of the slower group ships. But maybe not a 2 year travel time... I would like to visit the local c…

Well it sounds as if you have a great life's plan. We are currently cruising. We just finished a trip down the Atlantic seaboard starting from the Chesapeake Bay and resting now in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We will hang out in the Caribbean until September-October then head through the Panama Canal. Plan on spending some time going further south (Peru) and then back up the west side to Cabo - Calif. Hang out there for a while. Have you ever spent anytime on boats? If not, you may want to come on board and spend some time in the heat, rain, out on the bluewater, to see if you really want to spend 18-24 months going all the way around. How are your physical skills? Height, weight, strength, etc.? Running on a boat is physically demanding. When you are on a passage you really never get any sleep - just rest. Crew must keep a 24 hour watch - for the entire passage. Passages that could be up to 2-3 weeks long to certain destinations. A good site to research on the internet is the ARC (Atlantic Ralley for Cruisers) World Cruise (http://www.worldcruising.com/). A typical itinerary can be found there at http://www.worldcruising.com/WORLDARC2010/itinerary.aspx. Check it out. What's your current schedule like over the next year. Anytime when you could do a short passage? Regards, Daniel.

I have wanted to travel the world since I was very little. Unfortunately growing up I never really had that chance. Although I feel like finding this site might have been a sign. I love art and culture, but I feel I haven't even seen the tip of it all, and feel like this would be the perfect opportunity to learn and travel.
Sailing has always been an interest and I've been searching for some sailing lessons.
I'm a hard worker, and I would love the opportunity to be a part of someone's crew to take part of this voyage! :)
I'll be studying some Photography before the departure and I plan to make some sort of documentary.
If you are a Ride Along Host what type of boat are you taking, and what's it like?
I don't have a boat, but I'd like to own one one day, and maybe even live on it.
How many more passengers can you take?
N/A
How much sailing experience do you have?
Not much at this point.
